I own golden retrievers and my dogs and I do a lot of
different kind of dog sports.
Goldens are a breed of dog that are very versatile and very trainable.
They enjoy just about anything you want to do with them or just
hanging out with their family. The American Kennel club offers all
kinds of dog sports and these photos show just some of the things
I do with my dogs.  Golden Retrievers also make excellent therapy dogs.
There are many lcoal therapy groups in the metroplex that you can
involved with your dogs.  Therapy dogs do not have to be a pure breed to participate
in this activity.  Goldens are also being used for Seeing Eye dogs
for the handicapped and sight impaired.

Conformation is the dog sport where dogs compete against other dogs of their own breed for points toward their AKC Championship. This is similar to the Westminster shows you see on TV.

Chompers is getting his first point.

This is Canuck moving in the conformation show ring so the judge can watch how he moves.

The obedience photos show some advance level competition exercises
and some beginning level.

The wall jump requires the dog to watch the owner throw the dumbbell (the thing in the dogs mouth) over a wall jump and then the dog must retrieve the dumbbell, jump back over the jump and return it to the owner.

Here the dog walks along beside the owner (heeling). The dog must stay in this correction position for this beginning level obedience exercise.

I also do field work with my Golden Retrievers. After all that is why
they have the word retriever in their name.

This is a young dog being introduced to birds. Notice the puppy is on a long line,
so he cannot run off after he has caught his bird.

Advanced work...field retrieving a duck.

Agility is a very fun sport to do with your dogs. If you have seen this on the
animal planet, its like you and your dog are running a obstacle course that is numbered.

Chevy doing weave poles. There are 12 of these on an advanced course, 6 on a beginning course.

This is Calamity Jane doing therapy work at a local childrens hospital.

Here is Calamity in her blue fairy costume for therapy work. Sometimes
silly costumes help make visitors more comfortable with big dogs.

This is another of Calamitys' costumes for therapy work...The Bumble Bee.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing and hearing about all
the things I do with my dogs.
Dr. Milligan met my first golden back in 1986 and has
cared for my whole crew ever since then.
